My Puppet

My puppet The puppet I created is a random girl. She has extra accessories - a scarf and a small bag I made. She has a blue headband and dress. Her shirt is purple and goes up to her elbows. Her hair is black, but she has no face! I chose to do my image of a random girl because I wanted to create my own new character and not copy off another. It would also take more time to get the exact materials and shape them up. Many people did different characters - from WallE to dinosaurs and even Sonic, Iron man and Spiderman! Making the puppet’s limbs at first was very frustrating and annoying, because you had to wrap a piece of paper around a small metal wire, but it kept unravelling, over and over again, but, later on I found a cheat, so it became fun and easier. After I made the arms and legs, it was time to make the body and the head. My has 13 points of articulation. Everything is connected by wire, in the middle. But the hand and feet were made when I made the clothes. The best part was making the clothes (and accessories). There was a large selection of materials and different types of styles to use and shape. But the hair took me the longest. If I were to do it again I would do a character or another random girl or boy. Later this term, my puppet will in a movie, as a model called Veronica Vegas. She is a rich girl and can also act very well. She is secretly a spy, with her friend Clara Vonsmith, who is a famous ballet dancer.

My Puppet

My Puppet The small puppet I created is a character from a game called Prototype 2 and he is called Heller the mutant. I created my puppet for the reason of how much I enjoy this game, and how easy, but how outstanding, it looks. My puppet has has a whip for the left hand and a blade on his right hand. My puppet also has no nose or mouth. I started with all of Hellers limbs then his head and finally the hands and feet also the body after that. I have no hands on my puppet instead I have a whip and a blade. I had PVA it all then I put on abs and strips of armour. In the middle there is wire that have loops and hooks to attach all of the parts together then string it up. The best part was painting and putting it on display in the art gallery and seeing the final stage when it was finished. If I was to do it again I would change my character to Alex from Prototype 1 and put a sledge hammer in one hand he will also have no amour and lots of facial hair. Finally later this term my puppet will be in a movie as the super villian and co-starring Super bad guy. By: Ihiraia.

The Sunnybrae Art Exhibit

By Ha Won “I can’t see!” said the children excitedly, as the teacher opened the door. As the class walked into the hall they were curious to see the range of artworks. A crowd of children were proudly examining their marionette puppets. The puppets were wearing clothes made from tissue paper, sparkling gems, leather and a variety of many things. There were many artworks in different shapes and sizes. They were colourful and in lots of different styles, like Piccasso’s artwork. A new class came in following their teachers like baby ducks happily waddling behind their mother. At the very end of the hall there were volcanoes erupting and waves crashing down. On a table by the display lay boxes with clay figures and models of different scenes like under the ocean, and in the city. After a while the teacher announced “It’s time to go.”. The children walked out after hoping to return again with their parents and that nobody would touch their artwork.

Cluster Sports Exchange - Netball

It was finally the day of Sports Exchange!
I woke up and quickly got dressed into my sport uniform and my netball skirt and shoved my breakfast down my throat. My mum drove me to school and I saw lots of students wearing there sports uniform, but some students weren’t because they were doing rugby.

When Mr Gordon finished calling the role, the netball girls and I walked to the AMI netball courts because it was not far away. When we got to the netball courts,we realised we were the first ones there.

We all put our bags onto the bleachers and waited for the other schools to arrive. I was in Team 1 and we played 6 games.

My team started playing and the first team was really good, but the second was even better, they were in the highest grade (grade 1). They were really good at shooting and passing. My position was WD (Wing Defence) and I noticed that I kept on stepping.

At the end, we lost all of our games , but it didn’t matter because we had fun.

Farewell Miss Mohon

Today is our Student Teacher, Miss Mohon’s last day with us. She has been in our class for five weeks. She has taught us for 7 days, full control, while Mr Gordon was supervising her work. She’s in her second year of training at Auckland University. We have worked on SMART Tasks, Reading, Writing and Maths activities with Miss Mohon. We have also played some of our  favourite fitness activities like 'Octopus' and 'Silent Ball' with Miss Mohon. We’ve made a card for Miss Mohon, to say goodbye and thank you teaching us. I wish good luck for her future.

Unfortunately, the day was almost over.

Fortunately, Celine came over to my house on the last Friday of the holidays.

Unfortunately, there was not much junk food to eat !!

Fortunately, we played on my laptop.

Unfortunately,  Celine had to go home.

Fortunately, I still got to carry on playing on my laptop.

Unfortunately, the holidays were over!

Fortunately, when I got to school I got to see all of my best friends!

My Window Poem

My Window Poem

I see the sun bright and hot in the sky.

I see blue sky and white clouds all over the place.

I see the crane carrying the cut tree to the truck.

I see the man inside the back of the truck.

I see the man cutting the tree with a chainsaw.

I see the wood chipper cutting up the tree limbs.

I see the big orange cones to keep the kids away.

I see the grass so dry and begging for water.

My Window Poem

My Window Poem

I see the blue sky and a puff of cloud.
I see thick white clouds and a few green leaves and the tip of a crane.
I see a red crane carrying a piece of tree up, up, up.
I see a man working on the crane.
I see the three orange cones with tape so we know to stay away.
I see the dry grass on the ground and the concrete near our class.

Swimming Sports Review

This week on Wednesday we went to Birkenhead swimming pool to do the swimming sport. I did the breaststroke and when I got in the pool I was suprised because I thought the water was cold but it was warm.  When I heard the loud sound I started to swim,at last I reached the other side. I was cold when I got out and the teacher gave me a stick and it said 3rd. I gave this to Mrs Bailey to get class points.
After morning tea I  cheered for Tre as he was swimming a length of freestyle. At the end of the races we had free time in the pool. It was really fun!!! Then we had to get changed in the boys toilets. On the way back to school on the bus I sat with Henry. We were singing songs together. It was really fun!!!

When we got back I was surprised Mrs Bailey said “ You have to give me $50.”
I said, “Why?”.  Mrs Bailey said, “ Because you forgot your swimming togs and I brought them back to school for you.”.  Lucky she was only joking. After lunch I played cricket with Henry. It was the best day of my life!!!

Art with Mrs Smith

Mrs Smith comes to our class (Rm 13) every Thursday. She teaches us for the
the whole day. The topic we are learning about is the Chinese New Year.
She told our class to trace a dragon from one of her pictures of them.
Then she told us to choose 3 colours of ribbon, put them together, and cut them together in small pieces and stick them onto the scales of the dragons body, so it would make shiny and have multicoloured scales. I started doing my dragon and the multicolured scales were very tricky to put on the dragon.
When I finally finished it, I was very proud of it.  I showed it to Mrs Smith and she said I could start cutting it out.
I like it when Mrs Smith teaches us art and I'm looking foward to her next art activity.

My First Day of School - Christina

My First Day of School
By: Christina

I see ...

I see the weather getting dark and darker.

I see my friends running up to me saying hello.

I see Hannah helping me doing the bell.

I feel ...

I feel happy coming to school and meeting my new teacher.

I feel sad looking at the weather -  raining.

I feel happy being a new Year 6 this year.

I taste...

I taste my own lunch and it tastes yum.

I taste fresh water from my drink bottle.

I wonder ...

I wonder what it is being a Year 6 year in Room 13.

I wonder if Mr Gordon will  be the greatest teacher this year.

I wonder if will be a citizenship award this year again.
