Canadian Penpal Letters
The last couple of days we have been writing a letter to a Canadian penpal. It was a bit easier then I thought because we did a letter to a dog called Jock when Mrs Smith had us for writing. So we already know how to make a letter. I really enjoyed the end because we got to draw about some things we had mentioned to in the letter. We now get to draw and design a stamp with a NZ symbols on it and we're going to stick it on the back of the letter!

Visit from an Engineer

Yesterday we were fortunate to have the opportunity to hear from an engineer who was in Christchurch at the time of the earthquake and who helped with inspecting some of the damage. It certainly gave us an insight into what it was like during the earthquake, what the buildings and roads looked like afterwards, the process of liquefaction, plate tectonics and recent earthquakes in New Zealand.

Shared Book with Buddy Class

Today we learnt what a shared book session in our buddy class is like. After the teacher reads the book students complete an activity that helps them recognise words and then they draw a picture from the story. Room 13 enjoyed helping our little buddies with their shared book task.

Basketball Coaching Session

Today we had a basketball session with a representative from the NZ Breakers Team. We did some passing and dribbling drills. We learnt when dribbling a basketball you need to keep your head up, use your fingertips to control the bouncing, and to bounce the ball no higher than your waist.
